Volleyball wins second straight AAC road match

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Oct. 6, 2018) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team continued their road trip to Columbia College on Saturday morning to face the Fighting Koalas to finish out the weekend strong. The Lady Bears won in four sets 25-16, 25-22, 24-26, 25-19 improving to 9-13, 4-6 AAC while Columbia dropped to 0-13, 0-10 AAC on the year.

For the second match in a row, senior Shayla Smith and freshman Bethany Ross led the Lady Bears to victory. Smith and Ross compiled a total of 10 kills apiece while Anna Mumpower led with 15 assists and Abby Maxwell with 14. Heaven Walker followed with eight kills and Harris Walker added six. Smith and Olivia Beasley each earned six blocks and Madison Curtis earned five.

"The ladies did a great job staying composed in tight situations," Head Coach Lakisya Killingsworth said. "We are battling some sickness but I am proud of the determination to come out 2-0 on the weekend."

Up next, TMU will return home for three games straight. First on the schedule is Bluefield College on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 6:30 p.m., and then Wednesday, Oct. 10, the Lady Bears will take on St. Andrews University at 6:30 p.m. Saturday's game on October 13 will be at 11:00 a.m., against Tennessee Wesleyan.
