LAURINBURG, N.C. (Oct. 20, 2018) – Senior Megan McCall led the Truett McConnell University women's soccer team, the 2018 Appalachian Athletic Conference regular season champions, to victory with her fifth and sixth goals of the season on Saturday afternoon at St. Andrews University (3-0). The Lady Bears' defeat over the Knights marked their 12th win straight, 11th straight AAC win and 12th total shutout of the year.
TMU remain undefeated in the AAC improving to 13-1, 11-0 AAC on the year while St. Andrews fell to 1-9, 1-8 AAC.
"It was a long trip to play against a stubborn team but the girls brought a strong team performance," Head Coach David McDowell said. "We moved the ball well and created some great opportunities. It's nice to finish the season off next with two games at home."
M. McCall's first goal of the day came in the first half after she drilled a shot past the keeper outside of the 18. The second half saw M. McCall's second goal of the day. Tori Wilson slipped M. McCall in with a through ball after a diagonal run to put TMU at a two-goal advantage (2-0). Freshman Finley Brisendine slipped in her second goal of the year after Jasmine Lanuza played the ball back inside the six-yard box. (3-0)
Up next, TMU will host Bob Jones University on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 3:00 p.m., before hosting Brenau University for their last regular season AAC game on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 2:00 p.m.
