In the first half, the game seemed to belong to the Bears. The Bears took the lead in the thirty-fourth minute with a goal off the head of Jordan Moreno from an assist by Joao Costa. TMU kept their opponent scoreless during the first half, limiting them to only five shot attempts during the half, none of which even requiring a save from GK Evan Gaffney. 

The Bears were able to build on their 1-0 lead in the second half. In the fifty-first minute, Joao Costa put the ball in the back of the net, giving the Bears a 2-0 lead. The Rams would begin cutting into the lead almost immediately with a goal in the fifty-third minute, finding an equalizer in the seventy-fourth. Unfortunately the Rams did not stop there but scored with less than a minute left on the clock to give the match a final tally of 3-2, in favor of the Rams. 

Coach Rob Miller was disappointed to see the Bears' unbeaten run come to an end. "However, we lost to a very good Bluefield team with 42 seconds to go and I hope we can use that for fire in our belly for Wednesday against Montreat." The Bears' match against Montreat will be held at TMU at 4pm on Wednesday, September 20.
