CLEVELAND | Seniors
Carson Hagin and
Taylor Nix led the Truett McConnell softball team in the circle as the Bears swept Columbia in AAC action, winning 2-0 and 7-1.
Hagin threw a complete game in the first half of the twinbill, scattering just two hits with five strikeouts. TMU scored in the bottom of the first on a
Reba Jones single that scored
Kaitlynn Hay to get a 1-0 lead. The Bears utilized the sacrifice squeeze play to get the second run across in the third inning as
Sara Sullivan plated Hay to get to the final score.
Game two was a more offensive game as the Koalas struck first with two singles in the inning. The Bears answered though in the bottom half on two fielding miscues by Columbia to take a 2-1 lead. After a RBI groundout by
Peyton Wilson in the second,
Sarah Horne brought the fireworks with her first career homer, a two-run shot over the left field wall to get a 5-1 lead. The Bears found two more runs late to earn the win.
TMU will next take on Montreat on Tuesday in Cleveland. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
