CLEVELAND | The Truett McConnell Bears improved to a 4-0 start with two wins over Hiwassee Saturday, winning game one 9-1 before defeating the Tigers 3-0 in the second game of the day.
In the first contest,
Tate Gaines hit his first career homer in the third inning that put the Bears up 3-0 at the time. TMU poured it on in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring three runs in each frame.
The second contest was much closer as the Bears broke through in the fourth inning when
Casey Guilliams singled to score two runs. The Bears added one more in the sixth when
Calob Rowland got his only hit of the game that scored
Josh Johnston.
The Bears will return to action when they take on Emmanuel on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. in Cleveland.
