CLEVELAND | The Truett McConnell softball team defeated Agnes Scott in a rainy Saturday doubleheader, winning game one, 8-1, and game two, 4-0.
After a 27 minute rain delay prior to the start of game one, the Bears scored seven of their eight runs in the first four innings of the game, highlighted by a RBI triple for
Kaitlynn Hay in the fourth inning. Hay finished 2-for-2 in the game with four runs scored.
Carson Hagin pitched the first game and retired the first 12 batters of the game en route to the win.
Game two was a bit closer until
Milly Martinet helped to blow the game open, hitting a two-run bomb to left field that brought the game to its final score in the fourth inning.
Taylor Nix earned the win in game two.
The Bears will hit the road for the next three doubleheaders, starting with Southern Wesleyan on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
