The Lady Bears took on AAC foe Point University Wednesday night in search for their first conference victory. After a hard fought competition, TMU came up short against the skyhawks who are receiving votes for the NAIA Division || National Top 25 Coaches' Poll. TMU is now 2-9 on the season and 0-8 on AAC play.
The Skyhawks scored the first seven points of the contest ending the 1st quarter 14-8 against the Lady Bears. Point stretched its lead to 12 points twice in the second quarter while TMU fought back in the 3rd to cut the lead down six, 34-28 with huge basket by Junior
Sarah Hartshorn. Point retaliated going on an offensive streak to extend the lead 14 points to end the 3rd quarter, 49-35. The skyhawks got up as much as 23 points in the beginning of the final period, but TMU's effort never wavered. The Lady Bears went on a 11-1 run in the final two minutes of play, but eventually fell to Point.
Junior
Sarah Hartshorn led the Bears offensively for the night with 16 points. Hartshorn was the only player to receive double digits on the offensive side for the Lady Bears.
The Truett McConnell University Women's Basketball team will have a little break before traveling to Edward Waters next Wednesday night in Jacksonville, FL. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m against the lions.
