After a closely contested first set, the Milligan College Buffalos went on long runs to defeat the Truett McConnell volleyball team Saturday morning in the Bear Cave, 3-1.
The first set was extremely tight, as both teams traded points early on. The Bears held the Buffalos within four points the entire set and lead once at 24-23. With the Bears leading, the Buffalos went on a run to tie the game at 25. The Buffalos won the final two points of the match to seal the first set victory 27-25.Â
Going into the second set, Milligan jumped out to a 6-0 lead against the lady bears. TMU clawed back to a 18-14 deficit. Milligan responded with five straight points and cruised to a 25-18 set win. TMU clawed their way to a third set victory as they went on a mid 12-3 run extending their lead 21-18. Milligan fought back with the next three points, but the lady bears finished with a strong kill by

Trading points throughout the 4th set, Milligan secured an early 15-4 early lead. The Truett McConnell Volleyball team tried cutting the score, but the Buffalos sealed the match 25-20.
Shayla Smith led the Truett McConnell volleyball team with 15 kills and 3 blocks.
Olivia Beasley contributed with 6 kills and 3 blocks.
The Lady Bears will return play this upcoming Tuesday on October 10th at 6:30 pm in the Bear Cave against conference rival Brenau University.  Â
