TMU falls short on the Road in AAC play

TMU Volleyball falls short over the weekend in AAC play. 

TMU vs. TN Wesleyan 
On Friday night, the Lady Bears took on AAC Tennessee Wesleyan on the road in Athens, TN in front of a large home crowd. The Bears rallied late to make the first game close, but ultimately fell by a score of 21-25. The second set was not much different with the bulldogs taking control of the game to finish 21-25. In the final set, TWU took an early 11-1 lead against the lady Bears and controlled the match ending in a 25-21 win.

Truett McConnell's Shayla Smith lead offensively against the Bulldogs with 10 kills for the night. Abby Maxwell contributed with 6, while Addison Curtis pitched in with 4. Defensively, TMU's Anna Mumpower lead the team with 13 digs while Madison Curtis added 3 blocks. Shayla Smith not only played hard offensively, but added 2 blocks for the Lady Bears. 

TMU vs. Bryan
Saturday morning the Lady Bears competed early to start off the first set against AAC foe Bryan College. With an early start, the two teams battled close until the Lions went on a 6-1 streak to go up 15-8. The Lady Bears were unable to cut the lead after this, ending the first set 18-25. The second set was battled point for point between the two teams. TMU lead majority of the set before the Lions came back to tie at 25. The two teams would battle for the remainder of the set, with the Lions taking the last three points to win the set in extras by a score of 29-27. The Lions held the momentum the entire to cruise to a match victory 25-16

Shayla Smith led the Lady bears again for a whopping 19 kills, while Madison Curtis added 8 for the match. 

The Lady Bears will resume play this upcoming Thursday at Reinhardt University in Waleska, GA after Columbia College's match was forieted for Tuesday night. Game time on Thursday starts at 6:30pm.
