#21 Bears Beaten by Bryan 4-1
The twenty-first ranked Bears took on another conference opponent Tuesday evening. They set off to face the Lions of Bryan College, who had recently received votes in the latest NAIA poll. Despite the recognition both of these clubs had received, the pressing matter concerning this match dealt with AAC conference standings as both teams were fighting for the highest possible seed for when the conference play-offs start in a few weeks.Â
The Lions started the scoring early with a goal in the tenth minute. The Bears would look for an equalizer, and that would come in the thirty-sixth minute. Off a set piece because of a foul called on Bryan,
Jordan Moreno was able to level the game with an assist from
Giovanni Giraudo. The tie would not last long as the Lions would score just four minutes later, and the game would go into halftime with a 2-1 scoreline.Â
The Bears sought after an equalizer, with hopes to preserve their unbeaten streak, but they were unable to find one. They did have their chances, but the shots would either go wide of the target or be saved by the Bryan GK. Bryan had around the same amount of shots during the second half as TMU, but two were able to find the back of the net, one in the fifty-third minute and another twenty minutes later. The four goals scored by Bryan marked the most scored by any of the Bears' opponents this season.Â
"It was a hard loss to take. On the day, Bryan [was] just better than us and they fully deserved the win," said Coach
Rob Miller. "We haven't loss in a long time, and we hope [to] use this game as a wake up call and finish our season strong." The Bears' next match will be at Union College on Saturday October 21st at 1 pm.
