CLEVELAND, GA. |Â Â Â Volleyballs comes up short vs AAC foe ReinhardtÂ
The Truett McConnell lady bears hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) rival Reinhardt University Tuesday night in the bearcave. Despite an offensive rally in the third set, the Lady Bears lost the match 0-3. The lady bears are now 2-12 in the conference due to Columbia College forfeiting the remainder of the season, and 2-17 overall.
The Lady Bears played timid in the first set against the Reinhardt Lady Eagles. Unaggressive defense by the Bears provided fuel for the Eagles offense, allowing them to win the first set 25-14. The second game was not much different for the Bears, who dropped the set again 14-25.Â
The third set appeared to be a game-changer for the Lady Bears, as they went point-for-point with Reinhardt the entire game. Looking for victory, the Lady Bears had the momentum at 4-12, trailing Reinhardt by only two points. However, the Lady Eagles went on a 8-0 run to eventually end the game 25-20.
Both Shayla Smith and Madison Curtis contributed 6 kills a piece for the TMU Lady Bears while Abby Maxwell racked up with 15 assists. Defensively, TMU's Hannah Lee added 13 digs while Jordan Henshaw assisted with 9.
The Lady Bears will resume play Wednesday night traveling to Toccoa Falls in search for a win on the road. Gametime starts at 6:30 pm for TMU. Â
