WEST POINT, Ga. | Anna Murr and Janae' Simpson finished with a game-high 14 points each, but the Point Skyhawks got out to a big lead early and never looked back en route to a 58-47 win over the Truett McConnell women's basketball team Thursday night. The Bears are now 9-7 and 5-4 in AAC play.

The Skyhawks jumped out quickly, scoring the first 11 points of the contest and led 18-6 after the first quarter. The Bears cut the lead to six early in the quarter, but Point again pulled away to lead by 10 at the break.

Point went on to lead by as many as 19 in the second half. TMU cut the lead down to 10 with just under five minutes to play, but the Skyhawks clamped down defensively to get the win.

The Bears will return home on Saturday to take on the team at the top of the AAC standings, Reinhardt. Tipoff is at 2 p.m. in the Bear Cave.
