CLEVELAND | Despite falling in an early 15-0 hole, the Truett McConnell women's basketball team fell in overtime to Allen University, 88-84, Wednesday night in the Bear Cave. The Bears are 12-11 overall and 8-7 in league play.
Allen jumped out to a 15-0 lead and led 27-13 after one period of play. The Yellow Jackets kept the 11-point lead going into halftime.
The Bears fought back in the second half by shooting 17-for-27 from the field in the half and
Ariana Sanders' 20 points in the half. Sanders hit two free throws with six seconds to play in regulation to send the game to overtime.
In overtime, the Bears scored the first four points, but the Yellow Jackets scored the next nine points to take the lead they would never relinquish.
Sanders led the Bears with 28 points, while
Janae' Simpson added 13 points and 10 boards for her sixth double-double of the season.
Quinlan Hughes pulled down a season-high 17 rebounds.
The Bears will look to snap the losing streak as they face Milligan on Saturday in the Bear Cave. The "White-Out" will start with a 2 p.m. tipoff.
