LAURINBURG, North Carolina | The Truett McConnell women's soccer team gave up two second half goals and fell to St. Andrews, 3-1, on the road Saturday afternoon.
Nikki Bass scored all three goals for the Knights and wasted little time getting them on the board in the first half. In the fifth minute, she took a pass from Anna Werneth and found the back of the net to go up, 1-0.
Right before halftime, the Bears found an equalizer as
Jasmin Lanuza beat a Knight defender to the left post to send the game to the half tied.
Bass would retake the lead in the 57th minute as she went into the upper left corner to give the Knights a 2-1 lead. She scored again six minutes later to bring the game to its final score.
The Bears outshot the Knights, 14-7, and had seven corner kicks to the Knights' zero, but the Knights goalies, Rachel Widdicks, Liz Garner and Gianna Annichiarico, combined for six saves.
Truett McConnell will step out of AAC play on Tuesday to open its home schedule against Brewton-Parker at 3 p.m. at the TMU Soccer Complex.
