Lady Bears Upset Point University

Box Score The Lady Bears travelled to West Point, Georgia last night to take on AAC rival Point University. At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bears trailed the Skyhawaks 12-8. Two good free throws from Brittani Pimpleton and a two point shot from Hannah Lentz in the last 14 seconds of the second half sent the Lady Bears into halftime within two points from the Skyhawaks.

After halftime adjustments, the Lady Bears looked to fight back into the game. A good two point shot from Heather Shore gave the Lady Bears their first lead of the game. The Lady Bears went into the final quarter of the game up by four points. The Lady Bears extended their lead in the fourth quarter, due to senior Rhande Haskett's incredible performance from the free throw line, and never looked back. The Lady Bears ended the evening victorious by a score of 60-51.

"What a tremendous road win for our team," said Head Coach Chad Hibdon. "Our team was extremely tough tonight and we played as tough as we have all year. We got off to a slow start but our defensive effort was tremendous. Everyone chipped in with positive plays tonight but Rhande stepped up big late and was unbelievable from the free throw line to seal the win."

Rhande Haskett played an impressive game and led the Lady Bears offensively and defensively pouring in 28 points and grabbing 14 rebounds on the night. Claudia Hester (12 points, 7 rebounds) and Monica Hammond (7 points, 6 rebounds) also had contributions to the Lady Bears win.

With this win, the Lady Bears improve to 14-14 overall on the season and 7-12 in conference play. The Lady Bears will play their last game of the season at home this Saturday, February 20th, against the Lions from Bryan College. The Lady Bears will also honor their four senior's: Rhande Haskett, Monica Hammond,  Alyssa Lawson, and Helen Simoes. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 2:00 PM.
