Lady Bears Dominate The Knights

Box Score The Lady Bears returned home last night to take on the Knights from St. Andrews University in a late AAC match-up. The Lady Bears came out strong in the first quarter and led the Knights by a score of 17-12. Both teams picked up their momentum in the second quarter and matched for points sending the Lady Bears into halftime up 35-30.

After halftime adjustments, the Lady Bears came out strong and outscored the Knights by 21 points. The Lady Bears were victorious on the night by a scoreof 78-52.

"We had a great team effort last night in getting this win," said Head Coach Chad Hibdon. "We got back to simple basketball. Haskett was very aggressive for us defensively in the second half which created a lot of open 3's for her teammates. Pimpleton stepped up and took on the challenge of guarding one of the better scoring guards in the league and kept her out of rhythm. When we shoot like we did last night, it makes us balanced in scoring and tough on defense."

Senior Rhande Haskett led the Lady Bears offensively on the night with 16 points. Freshmen Ashley Roby (13 points) and Brittani Pimpleton (10 points) also had impressive offensive showings for the Lady Bears. Senior Monica Hammond led the Lady Bears defensively with 11 rebounds, in addition to her 8 points on the night.

With this win, the Lady Bears improve to 13-13 overall on the season and 6-11 in conference play. The Lady Bears will look to carry this momentum into their next home game this Saturday, February 13th, as they face the Eagles from Reinhardt University. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
