Men's Basketball Victorious in Overtime Thriller

Box Score The Men's Basketball team played in front of a rowdy home crowd last night as they faced the Knights from St. Andrews University. Both teams came out strong and battled back and forth for the lead for the majority of the first half but the Bears came out on top and went into halftime up by a score of 44-40.

The second half saw the Knights make a come back to lead the Bears until the last few minutes of the game when the Bears tied the game sending them into overtime with a score of 91-91. Both teams went point for point until the five minutes of overtime was up sending them into a second overtime with a score of 101-101. The Bears came out with the victory and out scored the Knights by 7 points in the second overtime. The final score of the game was 120-113, which surpassed a record that was set back in 2010 when the Bears scored 111 points in their victory against Belhaven.

Freshman Micah Woodard had an impressive game and led the Bears offensively and defensively pouring in 31 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Seniors Andretti Loyd (29 points, 5 rebounds) and JR Hurst (23 points, 8 rebounds) also had impressive showings for the Bears. Xavier Holland had 8 assists, in addition to his 7 points on the night.

With this win, the Bears move up to 8-18 overall on the season and 4-11 in conference play. The Bears will look to take this momentum into their next game at home this Saturday, February 13th, as they face the Eagles from Reinhardt University. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
