Lady Bears Dominate The Rams

Box Score The Women's Basketball team played in front of a rowdy home crowd tonight in a non-conference match-up against the Rams from Columbia International University. The Lady Bears took little time establishing themselves on the court and started the game off with back-to-back threes from Monica Hammond and Anna Murr. At the end of the first half, the Lady Bears lead the Rams by 15 points.

The Bears held the Rams scoreless in the second quarter until two minutes left and went into half time up by a score of 30-8. The Lady Bears never gave up the pressure from the first half and continued to dominate the Rams ending the night with a 52-27 victory.

Rhande Haskett led the Lady Bears with 13 points, in addition to 4 rebounds on the night. Monica Hammond (12 points) and Anna Murr (10 points) had impressive offensive contributions to the Bears overall victory. Monica Hammond led the Bears defensively with 7 rebounds on the night.

"I am extremely proud of our team tonight," said Head Coach Chad Hibdon. "Our players were the most focused they have been all year and were detailed in everything we were trying to do on the court. They played with great confidence and a remarkable competitive spirit. When we pay that kind of attention to detail and have good ball movement on offense, it really shows how good of a basketball team we can be. We are going to enjoy tonight and move forward tomorrow in our preparation for Saturday's road conference game."

With this win, the Lady Bears surpassed a record for most wins in a season (10) since becoming an NAIA insitution. The Bears are 10-11 overall on the season and improve to 5-5 at home. The Lady Bears will travel to Tennessee this Saturday, January 30th, for a crucial AAC match-up against the Buffaloes from Milligan College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
