Bears Dominate The CIU Rams

Box Score The Men's Basketball Team took to the court last night in a non-conference match-up against the Rams from Columbia International University. The Bears jumped out to a quick lead going into halftime with a score of 34-26. The Bears came out of halftime strong and improved their lead to 17 points and held the Rams scoreless for the last few minutes of the game. The Bears ended the night on top with a score of 80-55.

J'Quayveon Williams, who is currently ranked 4th in the NAIA for total rebounds per game, played an impressive game and led the Bears offensively and defensively with 20 points and 12 rebounds on the night. Andretti Loyd (13 points, 5 rebounds), JR Hurst (13 points, 6 rebounds), and Xavier Holland (7 points, 9 assists) also had major contributions to the Bears victory over the Rams.

"I felt we played really strong offensively in the second half," said Head Coach Jon Yeh. "We attacked the basket, sinked open shots, and boarded well. On a night were we honored Andretti and Quay for their accomplishments, it was great seeing both of them play well. We weren't great defensively in the second half, but we really toughened up down the stretch. I believe we held Columbia scoreless for the last 4+ minutes of the game and 55 points was a season low for us in terms of points allowed. We started the game off well and obviously closed it out even better."

With this win, the Bears move up to 6-14 overall on the season and improve to 3-6 at home. The Bears will carry this momentum as they travel to Dayton, Tennessee to take on the Lions from Bryan College for a crucial AAC match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
