The Truett-McConnell Lady Bears Soccer team returned to winning form this weekend, as they battled their way to an impressive 2-0 victory over the Knights from St. Andrews University.

The Bears, who entered the game with an overall record of 3-3, were in need of a victory having dropped their previous two matches against SCAD and Shorter University. Perhaps even more important, this was the Bears' first conference matchup of the season within the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

The Lady Bears used used a pair of pivotal goals to help power them to a 2-0 victory over the Knights. Quiara Gebauer, a freshman forward from Brookwood High School, scored the first goal of the game for the Lady Bears in the 1st period to help propel them to an early lead. Katey Griggs, a sophomore midfielder from First Day Presbyterian, gave the Bears some late breathing room as she laced a goal through the net in the 2nd period. The goals from Gebaurer and Griggs would prove to be enough for the Bears, as they relied on strong defensive play to shut the Knights down and notch their second shutout victory on the season.

With the win, the Bears moved to 4-3 on the year and 1-0 in conference play. They also moved to .500 on the season at home, improving their home record to 2-2.

The Bears will look to continue their intra-conference play momentum this Wednesday, September 23rd at home as they welcome Point University to campus for a crucial early season matchup. The game is scheduled to start at 2:00 pm.
