Bears Soccer Grabs First Win
Box Score The Truett-McConnell Bears Soccer team traveled to Mount Vernon, Georgia on Saturday to lock horns with the Brewton-Parker Barons in search of their first win of the season. The Bears, who fell in their season opener against Martin Methodist in Pulaski, Tennessee by a score of 2-0, were in search of some offense and eager to grab their first win of the season.
The two teams battled neck and neck for the majority of the game until Josh Bargary, a senior from Modern, England, broke the scoreless tie with an unassisted goal to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. The Bears relied heavily on their strong defense for the remainder of the game and ultimately walked away with a hard fought 1-0 victory.Â
The win was the first of the season for the Bears and moved their record to 1-1 for the year. The Bears will try to keep their momentum rolling on the road as they travel to Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama on Friday, September 4th. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm.Â
