Lady Bears Grab First Win of 2015
Box Score The Lady Bears Soccer team took to the field Saturday afternoon in hopes of grabbing their first win of the season against the Eagles from Toccoa Falls College. The Bears were coming off a tough season opening loss to Campbellsville University that was called early due to poor weather conditions.
The Bears wasted little time getting on the scoreboard when senior Joely Cook scored on an assist from freshman Brooke Wilson. In addition to being the first goal of the season for the Bears, Cook's goal also gave them their first lead of the 2015 campaign. The Bears took a 1-0 lead into halftime before returning to the field and scoring yet again in the second period. Madison Clark, a senior from Roswell, Georgia broke loose for a goal off an assist from Quiara Gebauer, a freshman from Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia.
The 2-0 lead, combined with a solid defense and strong goalkeeper play from Lexi Kent, allowed the Bears to cruise to the first victory of the season. The win against the Eagles improves the Bears' overall record for 2015 to 1-1. They will look to go above .500 when they take to the field on Wednesday, August 26th against Brewton Parker.
