Huge Comeback Leads to OT Heartbreak

The Bears came up short at home on Wednesday night in overtime against Division rival Milligan. A packed house watched as the two conference foes exchange blows during the course of the game, but unfortunately for the home crowd, the Bears came up one point short in overtime.
 

The Bears dug a hole for themselves early, falling behind 29-42 in the first half as their defense struggled to contain the hot shooting Buffaloes. Despite going into the locker room at the half trailing by a 13 point margin, the Bears refused to quit. They returned to the court with in the second half determined to put up a fight.
 

The Bears were able to find a much needed source of energy from an energetic home crowd and they clawed their way back into a tie at the end of regulation. The Bears were able to  outscore the Buffaloes 41-28 during the second half of the game and force the game into overtime. Leading the charge for the Bears on the night was Rudy Deaza, who led the Bears in scoring with 18 points in 35 minutes of court time. He was followed closely in the scoring department by AAC Player of the Week J'Quayveon Williams, who scored 17 points on the night along with 12 rebounds during his 37 minutes of action. In addition, Andretti Loyd knocked down 15 points on the night en route to helping the Bears pull even at the end of regulation.
 

Despite the Bears' valiant comeback at the end of regulation, they fell one point short in a tough 81-80 defeat. As a result of the tough defeat, the Bears fell 14-10 overall and 9-5 within the Conference. Their home record dropped to 8-4 for the year, but they'll look for redemption next Wednesday, February 11th as they welcome Bluefield College into the Bear Cave. The game is scheduled to tip at 7:30 PM.
