Lady Bears Fall to Bluefield at Home

The Lady Bears took to the court Wednesday night in front of the home fans in search of a much needed AAC win against Bluefield College. Despite their high hopes, the Bears' offense struggled from the early tip as they shot a meager 30.43% on just 7 of 23 shooting from the floor in the first half. In comparison, Bluefield shot 12 for 27 for 44.44% from the floor en route to a 30-20 halftime lead. 

After a series of halftime adjustments, the Bears returned to the court and held Bluefield's offense in check during the second half, limiting them to a 35.71 shooting percentage on just 10 of 28 shots. While in comparison, the Bears started to find their own offensive rhythm, outscoring Bluefield 35-32 during the half. However, the first half deficit proved too much for them to overcome as they fell to Bluefield by a final score of 62-55. 

Rhande Haskett led all scorers on the night with 20 points on 7 of 17 shooting from the floor. Haskett also grabbed 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 3 steals during her 38 minutes of court time. Anna Murr also had a big game for the Lady Bears with 13 points on the night. Murr was 5 for 15 from the floor and 2 for 2 from the foul line during her 35 minutes of playing time. 

The Bears will travel to Laurinburg, North Carolina this Saturday, February 14th, to take on St. Andrews University. The game is scheduled to tip at 12:00 pm.
