Lady Bears Dominate the Eagles on the Hardwood
Box Score The Truett-McConnell Lady Bears took to the court Thursday night against the Eagles from Toccoa Falls College in front of a packed house in honor of White County Veterans and First Responders. All White County Veterans and First Responders were honored with free admission and special recognition at halftime during both the Men's and Women's Basketball games. Inspired by the presence of these great individuals, the Lady Bears played their best on the hardwood in front of the packed house.
The Lady Bears jumped out to a quick lead at the end of the first quarter by a score of 18-13, primarily due to the offensive presence of Ashley Roby and Anna Murr. The Lady Bears kept their foot on the gas at the start of the second quarter and throttled the Eagles, outscoring them 20-4 in the quarter for a 38-17 lead at the half. After a few halftime adjustments, the squad led by Coach Chad Hibdon continued their offensive onslaught into the second half en route to closing out the Eagles by a score of 73-43 on the night. Ashley Roby led the Lady Bears on the night with 12 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals during her 19 minutes on the court. Anna Murr was second on the team in scoring for the night, pouring in 11 points with an assist and a steal. The Lady Bears combined to outscore the Eagles in the paint by an impressive 28-12 margin. In addition, the Lady Bears' bench outscored the Eagles 39-9 in front of the ruckus home crowd. With the win, the Lady Bears move to 2-2 on the year and 1-1 in front of the home crowd. The Lady Bears will travel to Columbia, South Carolina next Wednesday, November 18th, to play against Columbia College. The game is scheduled to tip at 6:30 pm.
