Box Score

For the first time in program history, the Lady Bears Soccer team will play for the AAC Tournament Championship on Friday on the campus of Reinhardt University.

The Lady Bears stamped their ticket to the big game with a commanding 3-0 victory Wednesday evening against the Knights of St. Andrews University. The game was played on a neutral site, at Reinhardt University, which is playing host to the final four and championship game this season.

Senior sensation Madison Clark, a native of Roswell, Georgia and a graduate of Roswell High School, laced a goal past the Knights' goalie within the opening minutes of the contest, giving the Lady Bears an early 1-0 lead and momentum they would never relinquish.

The two teams battled defensively for the remainder of the opening period, with shots on goal being scarce for both teams. The Lady Bears managed six shots in the 1st period, while the Knights were held to only two shots in goal. Both teams continued to showcase their smothering defenses in the 1st period, with the Lady Bears taking a 1-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.

With only one period of regulation play separating the Lady Bears from the Conference Championship Final, the Lady Bears returned to the field after intermission ready to impose on the Knights. Junior Meredith Mellard, a native of Lawrenceville, Georgia, gave the Lady Bears a 2-0 lead early in the 2nd period when she roped a goal off the post and under the grasp of the Knights goalie.

Not to be outdone, Quiara Gebauer broke free in the waining minutes of the period and lined yet another goal past the Knights' defense. With their 3-0 lead, the Lady Bears ran down the clock, limiting the Knights to just five total shots on goal for the day.

"The girls have been playing great, and I couldn't be more excited," said Truett-McConnell Head Coach David McDowell immediately following the game. "We came out strong against a solid St. Andrews team, and the early goal really helped us establish our presence on the field. All of the girls are playing together, and they're playing with with belief and confidence. We're excited for the final!"

The Lady Bears will play the Eagles from Reinhardt University for the conference title on Friday, November 13th at 2:00 pm at Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia.
