Men’s Soccer Blanks CIU to Wrap Regular Season
Box Score The Truett-McConnell Men's Soccer team traveled to Columbia, South Carolina on Friday night to take on Columbia International University for their final contest of the 2015 regular season.
Neither team was able to mount much of an offensive charge throughout the entire first period, with both teams battling hard to keep their opponent off kilter on the offensive end of the field. The two teams showcased superb defensive skills, battling to a scoreless tie at the end of the first period.
The Bears were finally able to break the scoreless tie late in the second period off a goal by senior Josh Bargary. Off an assist from Josiah Saydee, Bargary was able to break through Columbia's defense stronghold and score the games lone goal. The Bears' defense held steadfast for the remainder of the contest and they went on to claim the contest by a score of 1-0.
"We had a great second half," said Truett-McConnell Head Coach Rob Miller. "We played with a lot of heart and finished up strong for the regular season."
With the win, the Bears finished the season with an overall record of 9-5-3. They finished with a conference mark of 3-4-2, while going 4-1-2 at home and 5-4-1 on the road.
The Bears will now turn their attention to the AAC Championship tournament, as they are scheduled to take on the Eagles from Reinhardt University on Saturday, November 7th on the campus of Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia. The game is scheduled to kick-off at 3:00 pm.
