Lady Bears Soccer Comes up Short in OT

Box Score

The Lady Bears were on the road this week to face the Bulldogs from Tennessee Wesleyan College. The Bears entered the game in search of a much needed victory after their draw against the Rams from Bluefield College on Saturday.

The Lady Bears came out strong in the first half, only allowing the Bulldogs to have two shots on goal. The Bulldogs' defense wasn't enough to hold off Madison Clark from scoring her second goal of the season and allowing the Bears to take an early lead. The Bears remained on top for the rest of the half and looked to carry that over into the second half.

As the second half began, the Lady Bears had numerous chances to extend their lead with six shots and four shots on goal. The Bears withheld the pressure from the Bulldogs for the majority of the half, but fell to a late goal with six minutes left, sending the game into overtime.

Both teams looked to secure the victory, but it was Tennessee Wesleyan that came out on top with a minute left in the second overtime to grab the win.

"OT losses are always tough to take, but today's loss was very hard," said Head Coach David McDowell. "We felt we did enough in regulation to win the game, and with how hard this group of girls has worked and fought for each other, I felt we deserved more than the outcome."

The Lady Bears will travel to Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC this Saturday, October 24th for a 4:00 pm kick off.
