Lady Bears Overpower the Buffaloes

Box Score The Lady Bears Soccer team traveled to Milligan College, Tennessee on Wednesday afternoon to take on the Buffaloes from Milligan College in a pivotal match-up between AAC foes. Despite impending weather, the two teams battled toe-to-toe for the majority of the game until the Lady Bears were able to seal their impressive 2-1 victory over the Buffaloes.

The Lady Bears dented the scoreboard first midway through the first period when junior Meredith Mellard from Lawrenceville, Georgia scored the game's first goal, giving the Bears an early 1-0 lead. However, the Bears' lead was short-lived as Milligan answered with a goal of their own to tie the game at 1-1 prior to the end of the first period.

The two teams' defenses took center stage for the majority of the second period until senior Joely Cook was able to break through the Buffaloes' defensive front and score, giving the Bears a 2-1 lead. After Cook's goal, the Lady Bears relied heavily on their defense to keep the Buffaloes at bay and seal the 2-1 conference victory.

With the win, the Lady Bears move to 6-4 overall on the year and 3-1 in AAC play. The win also helps push the Lady Bears' road record to 3-1 on the season. They will look to improve upon their home record (3-3) next, as they travel back to Cleveland, Georgia to take on the Eagles from Reinhardt University. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7th and is scheduled to start at 4:30 pm.
