Coaches vs Cancer Suits and Sneakers

The Truett-McConnell Men's and Women's Basketball programs would like to invite you to participate in our first-ever Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers event, sponsored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Donations will be collected Wednesday, January 28th during the course of the men's and women's basketball games against Tennessee Wesleyan. All proceeds from the event will benefit the White County American Cancer Society and Relay for Life.

Throughout the last 10 days, college basketball teams across the country have been raising money and awareness for the fight against cancer. It's a subject that is very dear to our men's basketball team, as four of our team members have had a family member diagnosed with cancer, received ongoing treatment for cancer, or, unfortunately, pass away from cancer.

This new year, the American Cancer Society released statistics that reveal a 22% decline in the mortality rate due to cancer. Clearly every dollar raised makes a difference, and every educational effort to raise awareness makes a difference. Tonight, 100% of the proceeds raised will be returned to the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life of White County.

During tonight's games, we invite anyone in attendance to visit the ticket table to make a generous contribution to the American Cancer Society and honor a friend or loved one who has battled this dreaded disease.  Donation boxes will be available at the ticket table starting at 4:30 PM.  The women's game is scheduled to tip at 5:30 PM, followed by the men's game at 7:30 PM.
