Lady Bears Come up Short on the Road
Box Score The Lady Bears traveled to Dayton, Tennessee on Tuesday afternoon to take on the Bryan College Lions in a key NAIA Conference matchup. Despite a gritty effort on the road, the Bears were not able to slow down the Lions' offense and fell 52-70. Perhaps even more devastating for the Bears, junior
Helen Simoes went down early with an apparent knee injury. Simoes has been a key player in the Bears' rotation thus far this season, and without her in the lineup the Bears will need someone else to step up fast in an effort to fill the void on the court.
"The kids played extremely hard, but with Helen going down with a knee injury early in the first half it just really hampered us," said Head Coach
Matt Sanders shortly after the game. "We closed it to within 2 with about 14 minutes to go, but we just weren't able to get out front."
The Bears will look to rebound when they travel to Barbourville, Kentucky this Saturday, January 17
th, to take on Union College. The game is scheduled to tip at 4:00 PM.
