Men's Soccer Falls to Bryan College 2-1

Cleveland, GA - On Saturday, October 18th the Truett-McConnell men's soccer team took on the Lions of Bryan College in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matchup.

The Lions of Bryan College came out the block fast, putting the Bears under pressure right from the start. The Lions created a few chances by moving the ball quickly and switching the point-of-attack well. After a slow start, the Bears began to get into the game from an offensive standpoint. Despite their efforts, the first half ended with the Lions leading 1-0.

The second half was a battle with both teams competing for every ball. The Lions scored a second goal after a some quick passing and runs at the edge of the box. After the second goal went in, it seemed to spur the Bears into action as they started creating chances and dominating possession.

After missing numerous chances to get back into the game, the Bears realized that time on the clock was running low. With only 5 minutes left in the second half, Josiah Saydee played the ball across to Penzi Kakoma. Kakoma had a great touch and volley, bringing the game back to within 1 goal of the opposing Lions.

The Bears pushed hard for the last 5 minutes of the game to get the equalizer, but were unable to find the back of the net. The game ended with a score of 2-1 to the Lions of Bryan College.

With this loss, the Bears move to 7-8 overall and 2-5 in AAC play. The men's soccer team returns to action on Tuesday, October 21st when they visit St. Andrews in Laurinburg, N.C.
