TMC's Lady Bears say goodbye to seniors after tough loss
CLEVELAND, Ga. (TMSports) – Despite a back-and-forth battle of five sets, the Truett-McConnell College Lady Bears Volleyball team fell to conference opponent, Point University, in the last game of the season, November 5.
The Lady Bears came out strong against the Skyhawks, winning the first set 25-21. "I was very proud of my girls last night," said head coach Kevia Elkins. "They played with heart and desire like I have never seen before."
During set two, the Skyhawks came alive and stole the show, winning 25-10. The Lady Bears refused to quit during set three and put up 25 points to the Skyhawks' 23. While the back and forth continued throughout the entire match, the remaining sets went to Point, 25-13, 15-11.
Knowing it was their last time on the court, senior's
Liz Norton and Sara Conort both played outstanding games, leaving their hearts on the floor. Conort put up 33 digs while Norton posted five kills and five blocks.
Junior,
Jessica Epting played great offensively, posting 11 kills against the Skyhawks while sophomore,
Jordan Malaier, grabbed 20 assists.
While it was an emotional night, saying goodbye to five seniors:
Sarah Conort,
Liz Norton,
Ashley Davis,
Mary Singleton, and
Evann Todd, each girl who stepped on the court played their all. "Senior day is always an emotional time and being able to channel those emotions and keep them in check is difficult," Elkins said, "but last night I felt we did that as good as anyone."
The Lady Bears end their season with a 5-23 record.
