TMU announces inaugural Hall of Fame class

CLEVELAND, Ga. (Oct. 10, 2018) – A coach, a team and an individual will all be featured in the Truett McConnell University 2018 Athletic Hall of Fame Inaugural Class. All inductees will be formally inducted into the Hall of Fame during the Hall of Fame dinner and induction program on Friday, Nov. 9, and will be recognized at both the homecoming luncheon and halftime of the TMU women's basketball game during homecoming weekend on Saturday, Nov. 10.

This year's class will include Colby Tilley (women's basketball head coach 1976-1985), the 1980 National Championship women's basketball team and Robin Hendrix (1978-1980 women's basketball).

Coach Tilley led the Truett-McConnell College women's basketball team to the national tournament in 1980 where they were crowned champion posting an overall record of 36-2. Tilley recorded an overall record of 234-46 in his time at Truett-McConnell College. Robin Hendrix, a member of the 1980 championship team, was NJCAA National Player of the Year and first team All-American before finishing her career at NCAA DI Middle Tennessee State University.

"I am very proud to announce this inaugural induction class," Athletic Director Jenni Shepard. "I believe that the bar has been set very high for inductees. It is fitting that the most prestigious program in TMU athletic history is being recognized during this inaugural class.

I am excited to meet these individuals and hear them share their memories of their times here, hear what they have been doing since, and share with them what has been happening at TMU since they have left. It is student-athletes and coaches like these that not only laid the foundation for TMU athletics but left a legacy that our student-athletes and coaches strive to reach on a daily basis."

All inductees are allowed four guests to the dinner and hall of fame program on Friday, Nov. 9, free of charge. Any additional family or friends of the inductees, or anyone from the community, wishing to attend can purchase tickets for $10. Please contact Susan Land at sland@truett.edu to purchase tickets and RSVP.
